Nissan builds honest, hard-working vehicles — Altimas and Sentras that commute for decades, Rogues that haul families, Frontiers and Titans that actually work. They also build the transmission everyone has an opinion about, which makes choosing the right shop matter more for Nissan owners than most.
At All About Imports, Nissans — CVTs very much included — have been daily work since 2011, at independent-shop prices.
Let us address it directly, because Nissan owners deserve straight talk: the CVT conversation. Nissan adopted CVTs across its lineup earlier and more broadly than anyone, and certain earlier generations earned a genuinely rough reputation. Later units improved meaningfully — and across every generation, one factor moves the odds more than any other: fluid service, on time, with Nissan’s own NS-series fluid. The CVTs that live long lives overwhelmingly belong to owners who treated the fluid interval as real. Shudder, hesitation, or RPM flare on your Nissan is a today problem, not a someday one — early is when it is still affordable.
Beyond the transmission, the patterns are friendlier: most Nissan engines run timing chains rather than belts, taking one big interval worry off the table. Front suspension components on higher-mileage examples show their age on Texas roads the way most makes do, and the brand’s specific coolant and fluid requirements reward a shop that stocks to the spec rather than the shelf.
The theme across all of it: Nissans respond to specificity. The right fluid, the right interval, the right diagnosis — in that order.

By All About Imports — Denton’s Import Specialists
If you drive a Nissan, the single most valuable thing a shop can offer you is genuine CVT fluency — knowing the fluid specs cold, reading the transmission’s data honestly, and telling you the difference between a service, a repair, and a replacement before anyone spends money. That fluency is daily practice here. We are a family-owned Denton shop, serving Nissan owners since 2011.
Straight answers, the correct NS-series fluid, and a diagnosis before any big number — that is the Nissan experience we run.
The reputation was earned by certain earlier generations — that is just honest. But it is also outdated as a blanket statement: later CVTs improved, and across all years the biggest controllable factor is fluid service with the correct NS-series fluid, on schedule. A well-serviced Nissan CVT routinely outlives the internet’s expectations. The transmission’s worst enemy is not its design; it is neglect wearing the design down.
Enormously. Nissan specifies particular NS-series fluids by transmission generation, engineered for the friction the belt-and-pulley system depends on. The wrong fluid — or generic universal CVT fluid — can cause the slipping and shudder that gets blamed on the transmission itself. It is a fair question to ask any shop before they touch yours: which fluid, exactly?
Not necessarily, and that is the point of acting early. Shudder is often fluid degradation announcing itself — the most treatable stage of CVT trouble. Diagnosis reads the transmission’s data and separates a fluid-service problem from a valve body issue from genuine mechanical wear. The gap between those answers is thousands of dollars, and waiting tends to move you down the list.
